Angela Labrie Blackwell, PhD, OTR/L, is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy Education at the University of Kansas Medical Center. Her clinical experience includes early intervention settings, school-based settings, pediatric hospitals, and community pediatric settings.
Currently, Blackwell provides service in community pediatric settings in Kansas City. Her service focuses on supporting participation in important childhood occupations in authentic environments.
After earning a bachelor’s degree in occupational therapy from KU in 1997, Blackwell completed a master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2003. She returned to KU to serve as a graduate teaching assistant in the Department of Occupational Therapy Education and received a faculty appointment to the department in 2012. Blackwell received her doctorate in therapeutic science from the University of Kansas in 2015.
Blackwell’s research interests include Response to Intervention (RtI), teacher-therapist collaboration, sensory processing, and self-regulation in the early childhood classroom.
