GEDDES, N.Y. (WSYR-TV) - - The butter sculpture at the New York State Fair finally felt the heat on Tuesday.
The sculpture has been taken apart and will be recycled into renewable energy.
Cardigan Boutique Boutique Dosa Dosa Cashmere winter winter Noblehurst Farms in Western New York will take the butter from the sculpture to power its dairy farm and fertilize crops.
The butter itself is not edible.
Volunteers from Cornell Cooperative Extension came and harvested the butter from its supports on Tuesday.
The process took about an hour.
"Dairy Farmers are the originals environment stewards and we are always trying to improve our practices and keeping warm and safe and healthy and that's what's most important to us," said Michael Boerman, area market manager for Noblehurst Farms.
The sculpture had 800 lbs. of butter in total.
